Candied Bacon

Candied Bacon

Here’s just another reason and way to love bacon. We serve this as an appetizer and people go crazy for it. Kids, grown-ups, grandparents, everyone. Its really very easy but it can be a bit time consuming because you will need to make multiple batches depending on the size of your gathering. I usually have to make triple this recipe to keep everyone happy.

Ingredients

12 slices of thick cut bacon strips
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix together the brown sugar and cayenne pepper and set aside. Place a cooling rack on top of a baking sheet, place bacon slices on the cooling rack. Make sure that the rack fits completely inside the baking sheet, to avoid bacon grease dripping into your oven. Bake bacon for 10 minutes. Remove bacon from the oven and turn the strips over. Sprinkle each piece generously with brown sugar mixture. Return to oven and bake for 10 more minutes. The bacon should be crispy when done. Let sit for a couple minutes on the rack. Then transfer to wax paper and sit for another 5 minutes to allow them to set up further.  Then serve.
